January 2010 Petunia Outlet Help Haiti Fundraiser
Petunia Pickle Bottom is directly connected to The Hands & Feet Project, a children's village in Jacmel, Haiti that raises and educates orphaned children as a family unit. Located just 15 miles from the epicenter of the devastating earthquake last week, the organization and the city of Jacmel is in immediate need.
As a result, Petunia Pickle Bottom was part of a team that helped secure a twin turbo plane and two pilots from Santa Barbara. Steve Schapansky and plane owner Glen Miller left Santa Barabara, CA Saturday night bound for Jacmel, Haiti to coordinate the delivery of baby formula, food, water and medical supplies to this town completely cut off as a result of the quake. It was a huge coordinated effort on part of the H&F organization, various non-profits with supplies, community members and friends.
The first delivery was made Sunday and to date this 2-man crew has flown over 22 hours of the last 48 (slept 5) and delivered over 2.5 tons of food and supplies as well as extracted 10 people in Jacmel.
Our mission is to further assist with the basic immediate needs, but also help The Hands & Feet Project prepare for the onslaught of children orphaned as a result of the earthquake via this Petunia Outlet “Haiti Relief Sale.” The need to be proactive has never felt more urgent.
